MEADOWCROFT
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Mt. Veeder, Estate Grown

Meadowcroft wines are hand-crafted by Tom Meadowcroft, who began his wine career in Bordeaux with an internship during the 1979 harvest.  After attending UC Davis and Napa College, Tom spent years learning the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma counties, which has given him a unique perspective and understanding of the incredible wines these grapes can yield.  His experience shows through in Meadowcroft wines, which deftly meld place and varietal to create expressive wines true to their terroir.

Appellation
Mount Veeder, among the Mayacamas Mountains in the Napa Valley, is a one-of-a-kind appellation with wine production severely limited by nature. West of Napa and Yountville, Mount Veeder has been producing richly intense, age-worthy wines for decades.  It offers one of the longest growing season and the lowest yields in Napa Valley. Extremely steep slopes, above the fog, render shallow topsoil and minimal water retention, resulting in tiny berries, with intense flavor concentration yet soft tannins.

Vintage Summary:
The 2010 vintage was a complex and cool growing year. The cooler growing days and cool evenings contribute markedly to the dark fruit flavors and the soft, balanced acidity of the wine. The wine spent 29 months in the French Alain Fouguet oak barrels, and Hungarian barrels.

Tasting Notes:
The 2010 Meadowcroft Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offer dark ripe fruit flavors of blackberry, blueberry with bold, yet integrated tannins. A hint of the mountain forest and toasted rich oak also combine these aromatics and flavors to create this massively rich Cabernet wine. This wine pairs well with lamb shanks, roasted meats, vegetables and chocolate.
