Napa Valley

Why We Stole It
A few months ago, our allocation of Weston Eidson’s Pinot Noir sold out in hours. When we got word that the final 17 cases of his flagship Napa Valley Cabernet were up for grabs, we didn't hesitate.
Crafted by winemaker Weston Eidson alongside legendary 100-point consulting winemaker Russell Bevan, The Baron is an elite, heavy-hitting Oakville Cabernet that commands $150 at the winery.
We have it today for just $49.99.
In the glass, it is lush, succulent, and densely layered, pumped full of blackberry, fig, black cherry, and laced with savory smoked spices, earthy forest duff. Rich and full-bodied, the palate delivers a firm line of grainy tannins with bold freshness to frame the muscular black fruit, and a distinct, complex long finish. It's drinking beautifully right now but has the pedigree to evolve through 2042.

The Critical Acclaim
94 POINTS
"Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of fresh black currants, kirsch, and mulberries... Full-bodied, the palate delivers a firm line of grainy tannins with bold freshness to frame the muscular black fruit, finishing long and cedary. Drink 2026-2042."

Food Pairings
Here are the best pairing directions to recommend for this style of heavy-hitting Oakville Cabernet:
- Prime Cut Grilled Ribeye Steak or Bone-In Sirloin. The rich texture and dense black fruit layer beautifully against high-fat meats, while the wine’s firm line of tannins effortlessly cuts through the richness.
- Porcini-Crusted Roasted Lamb Chops or Wild Mushroom Risotto. Incorporating earth-driven elements like truffle butter, a rich reduction sauce with soy, or an earthy mushroom crust bridges the gap between the food and the wine's deeply complex, savory undertones.
- Braised Beef Short Ribs or Venison Stew. Braising the meat in a rich red wine reduction alongside aromatic herbs like rosemary and thyme complements the structural cedar and clove oil profile of 'The Baron' while providing a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Montagu Wines is a tribute to winemaker Weston Eidson's great-grandfather John, the second Lord Montagu of Beaulieu and a British automotive pioneer. He was the first to drive an automobile to Parliament and gave the future Edward VII his first car ride. This legacy of "firsts" and elite connections continues in Weston's winemaking, as he secures fruit from Sonoma's most coveted ridges to produce wines that compete with the triple-digit icons.
