94 Points - Chris Sawyer "Sommelier to the Stars"

Rich and generous, with a deep purple hue.  Aromas of crushed violets, ripe berries, blueberry pop-tarts, black currant, licorice, chocolate-coated espresso beans, allspice, and cedar box.  In the glass, deeper fruit notes are layered with earthy and spicy notes of black truffle, mineral, wild herbs, black pepper, cardamom, and a subtle hint of smoked hickory.  Full-bodied, plush, and velvety texture.  Coats the plate with fresh, juicy flavors of raspberry, blueberry, boysenberry and dark plum.

This is one of those powerhouse California blockbuster blends that just works.   It just begs you to bring some to the party, splash it around, you get the idea.  Approachable now or cellar for up to a decade... if you can wait that long.  Grab a handful, bring on the meats and enjoy!

Food Pairings:  To match the lavish flavors and grip in this brilliant blend, serve this wine with blue cheese aside nuts and dried fruits, charcuterie, risotto with wild mushrooms, juicy burgers, roasted squab, pan-seared duck with blueberry reduction sauce, Korean barbeque, gamey meats, or Osso Buco.

Sonoma Coast

95 Points
Displays a bright ruby hue. The nose reveals red cherries, bright red berries, subtle spring florals, and pie spices. On the palate, cherry cola, black tea, and liquid saline/minerals dominate, backed by vibrant, fresh acidity. It remains clean and elegant, with a young, firm structure and satiny tannin grip that suggests a decade of positive evolution in the cellar. A solid, well-made effort from this world class vineyard.
