2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma Valley
The Cassata Vineyards are situated in beautiful Glen Ellen, California. This area is known for its outstanding growing soils and climate. The vineyard was re established along the gentle rolling hills. In the center of the property, a pond has been incorporated to act as a beautiful oasis for local wildlife. The pond also provides a much needed water resource. The entire property is managed bio dynamically so that future generations can enjoy a pure and simple refuge in this isolated valley.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in this wine are grown in deep rocky soils. The fragrant approach brings you right into the vineyard and creates a sense of place. This wine opens with aromatics of ripe berries, cherries, and dried roses. On the palate, raspberry, pomegranate, white cherry, with notes of cedar and fresh leather. It sings of pedigree and polish with a very modern feel - think rich, concentrated, intense, deep and very long, with tons of sexy black fruit and just the right touch of spicy French oak. Elegantly balanced with a dash of Merlot, this wine displays a strong tannin structure up front, yet finishes with a silky texture. Enjoy now through 2025.

History of Muscardini Cellars
1892, when Michael Muscardini's grandfather, Emilio Alchera, was born in the village of Calliano, just outside of the city of Asti in the Piemonte region. Emilio came to America in 1909 via Ellis Island in New York. After heading to the West Coast by train to meet his two brothers, Antonio and Louis, he settled in San Francisco. Emilio began his living in California by helping to dig the Caldecott Tunnel, which connects the East Bay to Contra Costa County. After saving his money, he began to buy and run corner grocery stores where he sold fine bulk wines, and in his spare time made a red table wine for the family. His business would eventually become the "St. Helena Napa Valley Wine Company."
