VINEYARD
Revered for its impeccable fruit, Hallberg Ranch is 100% dry-farmed vineyard set on rolling hills where Green Valley’s southern edge meets the Russian River Valley. Pommard and Clone 115, a few coveted blocks on the Southern edge.
VINTAGE NOTES
Vintage 2022 started early, with bud break in early March. Late spring cold weather, with much-needed precipitation, helped shape the season, in another record drought year. Premature summer warmth, with a record early harvest in late July. While the vintage was marked by incredible variation across each growing region, and low yields throughout, the wines are lively and fruit-forward with balanced tannins.

Fermented separately in small open-top fermenters with gentle punchdowns. Maintained at moderate temperatures until dry, basket-pressed, and racked to 30% new French oak for 12 months. 38% Pommard and 62% Clone 115.

Bright and vibrant on the nose with aromas of black cherry, blue berries and fresh violet flowers. Deep and dark, offering luscious balanced fruit, black tea and cloves on a medium to full body. Tannins are smooth, while the mouthwatering acidity keeps things moving.

Aged in 50% new French oak, this wine opens up with aromas of red rose, black raspberry, and cherry cola notes that explode from the glass, with secondary components of sandalwood, cedary herb, and shaved chocolate. Black cherry flavors take center stage on the palate with notes of strawberry fruit, leather and sweet toasted baking spices on the finish.
95 Points
Cool-climate vineyard that keeps things light and layered in a bright and effusive nose. Blueberry, plum, huckleberries, black raspberries, spice, and toasted vanilla notes leap from the glass. Chewy and lush with impressive structure, finishing long with a dark fruit and a leathery note on the back palate.
