Maroon
2015 Zinfandel
, Napa Valley
Big & Jammy! Picked from old vines in Chiles Valley, this Zinfandel is a big, fruit-driven exuberant wine. Deep garnet in color, with a ruby core. The nose shows blackberry, blueberry, cassis, tree bark, dried violets, sweet spice, graphite and black pepper.
Nice hints of vanilla and cedar come from the 30% New Hungarian oak barrels it aged in for 14 months. The palate is medium to full bodied with a long vibrant finish.
Chiles Valley, Napa Valley
The Chiles Valley is nestled in the Vaca Mountains above the northeast side of the Napa Valley. The appellation has a cooler climate than the main Napa Valley floor due to elevations of 600–1200 feet as well as a cooling breeze from the Pacific Ocean. Classic 'big red' Californian varieties like Zinfandel, have proved very successful at this location.
