2012 "Estate Grown" Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Gold Medal - North of the Gate Wine Competition
Sourced from a 3 acres hilltop vineyard in heart of the Russian River Valley. A mix of Dijon clones with Pommard 4 and swan clones were planted for added complexity. The 2012 vintage was the first year the vineyard was managed by Jim Pratt. Following organic vineyard practices, the overall production was just under 400 cases.
The 2012 Russian River Estate Pinot Noir is pale ruby in color, with an alluring transparency. Floral and herbal aromas lead the way on the nose, with cherry, cranberry and vanilla joining later. The palate is light and bright, with cherry and berry flavors overlaid on an earthy backdrop. Spicy and savory, this estate pinot is beautifully balanced, and has the structure to age gracefully for another five years or longer.
Varietal: Pinot Noir

About The Winery...
Willowbrook started in 2001 as a dream of winemaker, Joe Otos, then 26 years old. This dream became reality after he teamed up with retired technology executives, John Tracy and Ed Sillari. Sillari and Tracy had recently moved to the wine country and had begun separately to explore opportunities to pursue their passion for wine. Sillari was involved in wine sales and Tracy had acquired a hilltop vineyard in Forestville. Their combined experiences were all the pieces needed to get Willowbrook Cellars started.
During the first few years production was limited to about 500 cases split between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Willowbrook began to increase its production of vineyard designate wines; seeking out interesting small vineyards each with its own microclimate and flavor profile.
Willowbrook Cellars wines may be found in gourmet restaurants and in specialty wine stores, but because of the small case production, most of the sales have been generated by word of mouth.
