2010 Sonoma Zinfandel
Gold Medal- Sonoma County Harvest Fair
Meadowcroft wines are hand-crafted by Tom Meadowcroft, who began his wine career in Bordeaux with an internship during the 1979 harvest. After attending UC Davis and Napa College, Tom spent years learning the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma counties, which has given him a unique perspective and understanding of the incredible wines these grapes can yield. His experience shows through in Meadowcroft wines, which deftly meld place and varietal to create expressive wines true to their terroir.
The 2010 Meadowcroft Sonoma County Zinfandel is deep ruby in color, with a classic Zinfandel nose of black berries and cherries, joined by a hint of char from the 25% American and Hungarian Oak. The palate shows more black fruit and oak, along with pepper and baking spice. Good acidity and just enough tannin carry these flavors through on the finish. This medium to full-bodied Zin is perfect for pretty much anything off the grill, from chicken to beef, or with sausage pizza. A great price for a single vineyard, small production wine.
