The 2010 Maroon Napa Valley Reserve Zinfandel is deep garnet in color, with a ruby core. The nose shows bright fruit aromas, intertwined with caramelized bacon, roasted nuts, spicy berry and floral notes of herbal honey. Nice hints of vanilla and cedar from the 25% New Hungarian oak barrels it aged on for 20 months. The spicy tones from the oak are well integrated and a nice counterpoint to the fruit characteristics. On the palate this wine is full bodied with a big mid-palate and a vibrant finish. This is the perfect barbecue wine for the summer months ahead.
